For years, Seville has hosted great sporting events of international magnitude, such as the World Athletics Championships in 1999, the European Swimming Championships in 1997, the Rowing and Canoeing World Championships in 2002, the Golf World Cup in November 2004, the Davis Cup final in December 2004 and in 2011, Eurobasket 2007, the Handball World Cup in 2013, the Basketball World Cup in 2014 or Euro 2021, among others. And on May 18 of this year Seville will host the UEFA Europa League final.

Fibes will also host two very important events for sports professionals. In May, the European Sports Science Congress will be held in Seville, bringing together 3,000 researchers and experts from 50 countries. And in September, the World Footbal Summit Europe will turn the city into the epicenter of the soccer industry.

A sports city for a sustainable traveler

The Instituto Municipal de Deportes (IMD) organizes multiple sports programs throughout the year: sports camps, bike rides, popular races, hiking and multi-adventure activities, river activities, etc. Among all these events are the Zurich Seville Marathon, the KH7 Guadalquivir Night Race, the EDP Seville Half Marathon, the City of Seville Triathlon, the Rowing Championships and the Rugby League.

All this is in addition to first-class sports and urban facilities that make the practice of any sport very accessible. The Cartuja Stadium, the two soccer stadiums of Sevilla FC and Real Betis, several sports pavilions, as well as a High Performance Center (CAR), are magnificent examples of the city’s sports infrastructure.
